With its varied and accessible pleasures, Florida is a favourite among many travellers on holiday to the United States. Drawn by St. Augustine’s colonial charm, Palm Beach glitz, the pulsing nightlife of Miami and the Everglades’ quiet expanse, every visitor to Florida is bound to find something to love.
No trip to Florida is complete without a tour of Miami, its vibrantly multicultural metropolis that buzzes both by day and by night. And then there are the beaches, pure white on the Gulf and pounded by surf on the Atlantic coast. From the Panhandle’s powdery white beaches, to the vibrant corals of the Florida Keys, the ocean is forever calling – calling the traveller to sail, dive, swim or partake in other water sporting activities. Take a detour off the beaten path, go deep a couple of miles and you will enjoy a glimpse into the old Florida, including its cigar-makers and mermaids.

Destinations

September through to December is the best period for a visit to Florida on a United States tour.

Between the months of May through to August, the area’s attractions are at their busiest, while the weather can get muggy and uncomfortable. January through to April make for the cooler months in Florida. Between March and May, the winter crowds tend to taper off with the weather being remarkably similar to the blissful temperatures of winter. Summer is the busiest time to plan a visit, while early autumn makes for a pleasant option as long as you visit the state before the holiday season.
