Lamington is pleasant all year, with May to October being the drier months and probably the best time to visit. Visitors familiar with Lamington National Park tend to appreciate walking in winter as the fine weather makes views less hazy, rain is usually minimal and leeches uncommon. Summer storms are common, and can cause a sudden drop in temperature. Winters tend to be sunny, but often cold (12 degrees), with evening temperatures near freezing.

  Lamington is considered to be on average 5° C cooler than Brisbane. Extreme winter temperatures can get below 0° C. Frosts can occur. The park usually receives on average about 1.8 m of rain per year. The wet season is typically from November through to March.
